Job Opening: Technical Consultant

We currently have two vacancies for the role of Technical Consultant and would welcome expressions of interest. The successful candidates will be based in our Nottingham office; however, travel may be involved.

Contract hours: Full Time

Salary: 38 – 42k


  • Full UK driving license
  • Undertake and pass UK security clearance at a minimum of SC and possibly if required to a DV level with residence in the UK for the past 3 years a mandatory requirement
  • Sun Oracle certification will be encouraged
  • UK and overseas travel

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate with a Computing/ Software Engineering related degree
  • Will have a good understanding and willingness to gain experience in the following technologies;
  • Oracle 11g, 12c, Database Administration
  • Application server administration – Oracle Weblogic/ JBoss
  • Unix/ Linux system administration
  • Windows server administration
  • Virtual machine experience
  • Disaster recovery/ backup knowledge

Principal Responsibilities and Activities:

Working within the Professional Services team you will help drive forward our software applications, to ensure we maintain our position as market leader.

  •  Develop an understanding of each ‘work package’ according to the defined project requirements.
  • Implement and upgrade applications on customer sites as per the ABM implementation standard ensuring this is completed within the contracted timescales.
  • Keep up to date with relevant technology and best practice in order to enhance level of service offered.
  • Communicate fully with customers regarding specifications and requirements through interaction with the Project Manager and directly with the IT customer contact.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure a back out strategy is in place for each implementation.
  • To liaise with the customers, suppliers and partners as appropriate.
  • Provide timely and accurate technical advice and guidance to customers and peers.
  • Continue to review and make recommendation for improvement changes in relation to the implementation procedures and associated documentation
